Masters of Science in Irrigation and Drainage Engineering

Masters of Science in Irrigation and Drainage Engineering

Programme Summery

For the agricultural sector, adaptation to and mitigation of climate change impacts will  require more investments in technological, human and social capital. Of these, investment in human capital that sustainably increases farmers’ access to water resources through irrigation prominently stands out among the viable interventions. Such targeted investment will enable farmers cope with climate change shocks, accelerating improvements in their livelihoods. This programme therefore, targets on producing graduates with capacities to identify opportunities for irrigation and water resources management and offering specialized knowledge and skills for implementation. The graduates will also be able to effectively exploit the vast water resources the country is endowed with in terms of lakes, rivers, swamps and wetlands accounting for nearly 18% of the country’s surface area, using significant portions of this resource for enhancing agricultural production.

Entry Requirements
  • Honors Bachelor Degree in the following fields; Irrigation, Water Resources, Agricultural, Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, Bio-Systems, Agro-processing, and Mining Engineering.
  • Holders of other relevant engineering degrees.
